recA promoter + translational ccdB
The recA promoter is an inducible promoter that responds to DNA damage which can be caused by UV radiation (namely the formation of ssDNA). This promoter controls the expression of the ccdB gene. ccdB is a toxin that inhibits the function of DNA gyrase and interferes with helicase activity. As a result, processes such as DNA replication and RNA transcription are hindered, ultimately causing cell death.
